Universe Models Atlas

Compare ΛCDM, inflation, MOND and approaches to quantum gravity.

Cosmological models, scenarios and theoretical approaches operate at different scales. They are not always alternatives: inflation can complement ΛCDM. Status refers to the stated scope, not ultimate truth.

A / COMPARE

ΛCDM

Supported by observations; tensions remain

A decorative transition diagram. These curves are not model predictions or observational data.
Scope
The late universe and its connection to early perturbations
Parameters
H₀, Ωm, Ωb, ΩΛ, As, ns, τ; the number of independent parameters depends on the parameterization.
Predictions
A consistent description of the CMB, large-scale structure and cosmological distances.
Limitations
The nature of dark matter and Λ is unknown; tensions exist between datasets.

B / COMPARE

MOND

Successes on galactic scales; constraints on other scales

A decorative transition diagram. These curves are not model predictions or observational data.
Scope
Dynamics at low accelerations: a phenomenological approach
Parameters
Acceleration scale a₀ and an interpolation function; a relativistic completion is specified separately.
Predictions
A relation between baryonic distribution and galactic dynamics at low accelerations.
Limitations
Clusters, lensing and the CMB require additional components or a specific relativistic completion.
